Sometimes it’s easy to forget

that heaven is actually

right here on earth.

The way the dog splashes

with it’s sideway grin

in the waves

tongue flapping and lapping

up the air

as if LIFE itself

were the sweetest thing around.

Which in this moment -

for this dog - it is!

And for me, watching it;

feeling the sun on my skin,

salt in my hair

I close my eyes

throw my head back and let

out a laugh

like a bark

that startles the dog momentarily.

We catch each other’s eye

this dog and I -

and for one brilliant sky-blue moment

nothing else exists -

but this:

Dog-Woman

Dancing in the shallows

of Sky Sea.

We shake ourselves shaggy into a

thousand droplets of joy

and I run on home

on my two strong legs -

wagging my tail in delight.
